TO ALL BRAVE, HEALTHY, ABLE BODIED AND WELL-DISPOSED YOUNG MEN IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, WHO HAVE ANY INCLINATION TO JOIN THE 2ND BATTALION OF THE PENNSYLVANIA REGIMENT NOW RAISING UNDER LT. COL. JOHN ARMSTRONG FOR THE 250th Anniversary Observance of the EXPEDITION AGAINST KITTANNING August ye 28th to September ye 10th, 2006 For the Purposes of Retrieving individuals held in Captivity by ye Savages, the Destruction of said Village and the reduction of Acts of Violence performed against the Loyal Subjects of His Majesty King George II *********************************************************************** Said Expedition will leave Fort Shirley (Shirleysburg, Huntingdon County, PA) on August ye 28th , 2006, and will arrive at Kittanning (Armstrong County) on September ye 8th, 2006. A March into Kittanning will take place on September ye 9th. Two Battle Reenactments are planned for Sunday, September ye 10th, one at daybreak and one in the afternoon.
Come for 1 day or all of it! The whole distance is approximately 126 miles, therefore, you will be walking an average of 12 miles per day. Period correct clothing and equipment required (walking shoes in place of period footwear a must on the walk). Clothing and Equipment guidelines will be distributed to interested parties at a later date. If you can only make one day, it is important to make it Saturday. We would like over 300 Soldiers to march into Kittanning September ye 9th, as Lt. Col. Armstrong did in 1756.
