Chauncey Goodrich His Horn

Back to My Stuff

For my 40th birthday, a very wonderful and talented craftsman Bill Rooks who I know through the Mohican Press website, hand-carved for me this stunning powder horn. It has on it the words "Chauncey Goodrich His Horn 1756"! It shows a small version of very early New York City at the head of the Hudson River, a ship in full sale on the river, the town of Albany, the Mohawk River, Sir William Johnson's Fort, Fort Edward and Fort William Henry (of Last of the Mohicans fame), Lake George, Lake Champlain, Fort Carillon (Ticonderoga), and Fort St. Frederic (later Crown Point). It is truly a wonderful horn, a very generous gift. I am indebted to Bill for his kindness!

If you haven't seen my second horn in the style of 18thC horn-maker John Bush, click here.  And click here to see my third horn, yet another a birthday present!
